A voice for our mob with disability

We are Mob 4 Mob

Who We Are:

Mob 4 Mob is a community-led organisation for our mob, by our mob.

We’re proud to be Queensland’s peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with disability.  As Australia’s First Nations Peoples living with disability, we recognise that we are a minority within a minority. The diversity within Queensland’s First Nations communities makes our mission even more vital. Our population also includes a strong representation of South Sea Islander communities, many of whom were brought to this country as slave labour to work in the cane fields and later married into local mobs.

Our role is to stand alongside mob, listen to your stories, and make sure your voices shape the policies and systems that affect our everyday lives.

We’re not a service provider. Instead, we yarn with community, listen, build strong relationships, and carry your voices to the places where decisions are made whether that’s in government, the NDIS, or other spaces that need to hear from us.

We exist to make sure mob with disability, their families and carers are heard, respected, and represented in every part of Queensland.

What is a Peak Body?

A peak body is a representative voice for a whole community. Mob 4 Mob was created to be that voice for First Nations peoples with disability across Queensland.

As your peak, Mob 4 Mob:

  • Listen deeply to mob with lived experience of disability

  • Amplify community influence in safe and powerful ways

  • Advocate for systemic change in systems like health, education, justice, housing, and the NDIS

  • Hold government to account, making sure policies work for mob, not against us

  • Stand shoulder to shoulder with other peaks, community leaders, and allies

  • Support deadly leadership because when mob lead, community thrives

Everything we do is grounded in culture, connection and lived experience because that’s how real change happens.

Our Reach:

We work statewide across Queensland from cities to towns, from remote communities to regional centres.

We’re funded by the Queensland Government, but we’re driven by mob. Our focus is on building trust, strong partnerships and lasting impact. Community leads the way in everything we do.
